Jacquelyn Drake, 62, and Brandon Lamb, 56, were seriously injured in a Ventura car accident that occurred on March 15, 2010, after a speeding driver struck their SUV. According to a news report in the Ventura County Star, 19-year-old Giovanny Ruiz was driving at speeds of over 90 mph in the northbound lanes of Highway 101, near Telephone Road, when he lost control of his vehicle and broadsided an SUV being driven by Lamb. The force of the collision caused the SUV to veer off the highway and crash into a tree. Lamb and his passenger, Drake, had to be extricated from the SUV, which had almost fully wrapped itself around the tree due to the force of the crash. Ruiz sustained only minor injuries. A woman sustained injuries in a San Diego car accident after a suspected drunk driver crashed into her SUV and caused it to roll over. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, a 19-year-old man was driving on East Palomar Street in Chula Vista the morning of March 14, 2010, when he ran a red light at Olympic Parkway and broadsided the 51-year-old woman's Ford Explorer SUV. The crash's impact caused the SUV to rollover. The woman was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The teen driver was booked on felony DUI charges causing injury. Two women were injured in an car accident in Anaheim after their cars crashed at a street intersection the morning of March 11, 2010. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the T-bone crash involving a Toyota Camry and a Ford Mustang, occurred at the intersection of Wilken Way and Harbor Boulevard. Anaheim firefighters freed the driver of the Camry, which was broadsided. She was then transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries, as was the driver of the Mustang. Authorities in Shasta County have identified a 36-year-old pedestrian killed in a car accident the evening of March 8, 2010, as Kelly Jean McCoy. According to a news report in The Record Searchlight, McCoy was crossing East Street at the intersection of Placer Street, in Redding, when an SUV driven by 45-year-old Barbara Meyer hit her. The accident occurred as Meyer attempted a left turn onto East from Placer. Police are still looking into whether McCoy was in a crosswalk at the time of the collision. Eric Sandor Valenzuela, 38, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident the morning of March 8, 2010 after his car was hit by a semi-truck. According to a news report in The San Bernardino Sun, the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Air Expressway Boulevard and Gas Line Road in Victorville. Valenzuela was northbound on Gas Line in a 1999 Hyundai Accent and attempted to make a left turn at Air Expressway. The big rig then struck the Hyundai. William Robert Wingate, 47, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after he lost control of his SUV and crashed, the morning of March 5, 2010. According to a news report in The San Bernardino Sun, Wingate was driving a Toyota 4Runner on the southbound 15 Freeway near Duncan Canyon Drive, in Fontana. According to witnesses, the SUV veered off the roadway and crashed into the back of a parked tractor trailer, which was apparently waiting for roadside assistance. William Detore, 46, sustained fatal injuries in a Sacramento bicycle accident after his bicycle got caught under a Regional Transit bus. The Sacramento Bee reports that the crash happened near the street intersection of L Street and 5th Street, the afternoon of March 6, 2010.
