Three people sustained injuries in a Los Angeles car accident after two vehicles crashed on the 210 Freeway in Azusa. According to an Associated Press news report, the injury collision occurred on the westbound 210 Freeway near North Vernon Avenue the morning of June 23, 2010. California Highway Patrol officials say a white Honda crashed into a silver Toyota in the carpool lane. Three people were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

My heart goes out to these injured victims. I hope their injuries were not serious and pray that they recover quickly and completely.

Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol's 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were four fatalities and 251 injuries involving car accidents in Azusa. In Los Angeles County as a whole, 667 people died and 52,229 were injured in car accidents during the same year.

Causes and Liability Issues

Based on this news report, it is not clear how or why this injury accident occurred. All we know is that a Honda crashed into a Toyota vehicle. It appears the victims' condition was not life-threatening. Still, several questions remain. How did this collision occur? Who was at fault for the accident? Why did the collision occur? Was there any negligence or wrongdoing involved? I trust authorities are examining these and other factors in order to determine what precisely occurred and why.

If the driver of the Honda was at fault, he or she could be held liable for the accident and resulting injuries. The same also applies to the driver of the Toyota. In these types of accidents injured victims could be compensated for medical expenses, loss of wages, cost of compensation, rehabilitation and other related damages.

It is important to remember that in cases, where accidents involving two or more vehicles take place, you should write down as much information as a possible. This information includes insurance, vehicle license plate number and contact information. Please do not sign any agreements or talk to insurance adjusters and attorneys for the other parties. The injured victims in such cases would be well-advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer who will stay abreast of the investigation and make sure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.
