One person suffered major injuries in a Palm Springs rollover car accident when his car went out of control after the left rear tire blew out. According to a news report on KPSP, the rollover crash occurred when the car went over the right hand shoulder of the westbound 10 Freeway near the Wall Road overpass around noon June 23, 2009.
The car apparently veered off the freeway plowing through a stretch of barbed wire fence before landing on 20th Street, California Highway Patrol officials said. Witnesses reported that the car rolled over about four or five times. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car had to be cut out of the vehicle and was transported to an area hospital with major injuries including a broken bone.
I'm relieved that this driver did not suffer fatal injuries in this horrific rollover car crash. Rollovers often cause catastrophic or fatal injuries because of the sheer intensity with which they occur. I wish this injured victim the very best for a quick and complete recovery. Please keep this man in your prayers.
Defective tires are among the most common causes for drivers to lose control of their vehicles, especially when they are driving at freeway speed. When a tire blows out suddenly or when tire tread separation occurs, the car might go out of control. It's hard even for experienced drivers to regain control of their vehicles in such situations. In this particular case, it is not clear whether it was an issue of a defective tire or if there was some other problem. I strongly recommend the accident victim and his family have what is left of the tire carefully preserved. Experienced personal injury attorneys who handle product liability cases will be able to follow through with an independent investigation and determine whether the accident that caused this man's serious injuries was in fact caused by a defective product.
The importance of tire maintenance can never be emphasized enough. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), properly maintained tires improve the steering, stopping, traction and load-carrying capability of your vehicle. Tires that are underinflated or vehicles that are overloaded may also cause tire failure. If a tire is found to be defective, then the tire manufacturer could be held liable for any injuries that result. If you or a loved one has been injured due to a defective auto product, an experienced auto product defect law firm may be able to help you. The best personal injury lawyers will always offer a free and comprehensive initial consultation to injured victims and their families.
