Tonia Marie Evans, 44, was killed in a July 21, 2010 on Highway 101 after another vehicle collided head-on with hers. According to a report in The Willits News, Evans was driving a 1995 Toyota 4Runner south on the highway when a 2001 Subaru driven by 37-year-old Saskia Martin swerved into the southbound lanes into the path of the 4Runner. California Highway Patrol officials said the head-on collision caused the Toyota SUV to roll over. Martin and Tonia Evans' husband, 52-year-old Allen Evans, sustained minor injuries. However, Tonia Evans died at the scene.
WeHo News reports that 19-year-old Celine Mahdavi pleaded no-contest to hit-and-run charges stemming from a December 1, 2009 bicycle accident that seriously injured pro bicyclist Louis "Birdman" Deliz. The major injury collision occurred at the intersection of Holloway and La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood. Mahdavi fled the scene of the crash and was arrested just blocks away from the scene. Deliz spent nearly 50 days in the hospital and had sustained major injuries to his face, hands and hips. The accident put an end to his professional cycling career.
Michelle Vu, 23, was killed in an Orange County car accident after she was struck by an SUV the night of July 16, 2010.
Two people sustained injuries in a San Bernardino car accident, which officials say, was caused by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. According to a news report in the San Bernardino County Sun, the injury collision occurred on Highway 395 in Victorville the morning of July 15, 2010.
Jamie M. Dodge, 49, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Banning the night of July 11, 2010.
Jameson Darapheth, a 4-year-old boy was fatally injured in a San Diego car accident the afternoon of July 9, 2010 after he was struck by a car in Encanto. According to a news report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, the boy was watched by his 12-year-old brother at the time.
Douglas Hill, an 18-year-old member of the U.S. Navy, sustained critical injuries in a San Diego car accident, which officials say, involved street-racing.
An off-duty Alhambra police officer sustained injuries in a motorcycle accident after he crashed into a big-rig on the 605 Freeway in Whittier. According to a news report in the Pasadena Star-News, the officer was riding a Honda CBR 1000 up the on ramp at Whittier Boulevard the morning of July 1, 2010, when he struck the semi truck and trailer. The motorcyclist was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. California Highway Patrol officials said no other injuries were reported.
