Two people were seriously injured over the weekend in an Oregon motorcycle accident. The Salem-News reported that the incident occurred on Highway 242 near Viewpoint at about 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

According to the news report, the victims, identified as Rodney Earl Kenter and Jeanne Kenter, were thrown from their motorcycle when they slammed into the side of a Subaru Legacy, driven by William Foster, that had suddenly cut in front of them.

Although both were wearing protective helmets, the couple sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. The driver of the vehicle meantime was unhurt and was cited for Dangerous Left Turn, investigators said.

It is fortunate that all parties involved in the car accident were using protective devices. While it is still unclear what happened, I'm thankful that the car collision did not result in any fatalities and I join Rodney and Jeanne's friends and family in praying for their speedy recovery.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, in 2007 there were 743 crashes involving motorcycles in the state, in which 724 persons were injured and 51 were killed.

If you have been involved in a car or motorcycle accident, it is always helpful to consult a Portland personal injury lawyer who can piece together the events that led to a car accident. Were there auto defects or unclear signs that led to the car collision? Who should be held accountable for a car accident which leads to injuries and deaths? Aside from determining the causes of a car accident, a personal injury attorney can also help victims get the proper compensation for their physical injuries, emotional stress and loss of financial earnings.
