Walda Bradley, 79, was killed in San Jose car accident after she was struck by a vehicle in the mobile home park where she lived. According to a Bay City News report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the afternoon of July 28, 2010 in the 700 block of Mill Stream Drive. Bradley was walking near the entrance of the park when she was hit. She was transported to a local hospital but died shortly afterward. The road where Bradley was hit was part of the Millpond Mobile Home Park. Officials are still looking into whether the driver, who has only been identified as a 75-year-old woman, also lived in the same senior community.

I offer my deepest sympathies to everybody who knew and loved Walda Bradley for their profound loss. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

San Jose Pedestrian Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol's 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 16 fatalities and 297 injuries involving pedestrian accidents in San Jose. In 2009, there were 14 pedestrian accident deaths. So far in 2010, this is the city's third pedestrian accident fatality.

Accident Causes

Based on this news report, it is not quite clear how or why this pedestrian accident occurred. There are still several questions here. Where was the pedestrian walking at the time of the collision? Was she walking on the side of the road or attempting to cross a street? Was the driver of the vehicle impaired, distracted, speeding or disoriented at the time of the collision? I trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine exactly what occurred here and why.

Liability Issues

If this accident is determined to have been the fault of the driver, then she could be held liable for the wrongful death of Walda Bradley. If there was a dangerous condition on the roadway, which may have caused or contributed to this pedestrian accident, then the operator of the mobile home park may also be held accountable.

Family members of deceased victims in such cases would be well-advised to consult with an experienced San Francisco personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the collision and make sure that the negligent parties are held accountable.
