Two men were arrested and two others are still being sought after a Westminster car accident, which left a woman critically injured. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury collision occurred the night of February 7, 2012 near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Bolsa Avenue. Westminster police say that a vehicle went over a sidewalk and struck a female pedestrian. She was transported to an area trauma center with critical injuries. Witnesses told officials that the four men inside the vehicle got off and fled on foot. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Westminster. Police were able to arrest two of the men, but the two others are still at large.
My heart goes out to this seriously injured hit-and-run car accident victim. I wish her the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.
Pedestrian Accident Statistics
According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), one person died and 24 were injured in pedestrian accidents in Westminster. In Orange County as a whole, 41 fatalities and 864 injuries were reported due to pedestrian accidents, during the same year.
Hit-and-Run
Based on this news report, it appears that the four men involved in this incident were not only driving a stolen vehicle, but struck the woman who was legally walking on the sidewalk and fled the scene leaving her lying on the roadway, critically injured. Despicable! I truly hope officials apprehend all the suspects involved in this incident.
